The Heart of Oregon Care Link

Founded by a hospice RN and a private caregiver with 20 years of experience who met while caring for the same patient, Oregon Care Link is a unique local business dedicated to providing quality, affordable care and flexibility to patients with serious illnesses. Lisa and Katie bonded over shared stories of their frustration with the system of caregiving, and how most big agencies charge premium prices to send anyone they can hire to their clients.

Family members complained to Lisa about caregivers falling asleep on the job, not giving medications as prescribed, and even refusing to empty a drain or a catheter. Katie often came to the rescue of hospice patients who dealt with no-call/no-shows at the last minute and didn’t know how to properly care for their actively dying parents.

They listened to families and clients share how it affected their already heavy emotional workload to deal with these frequent issues. It seems like the big caregiving referral agencies often assign strangers who just show up for a paycheck, don’t have the necessary skills and training to do their job, and most unfortunately, just don’t care as much as they should.

Lisa and Katie saw the need for a smaller, non-profit business that families can trust, and decided to create a caregiving referral service that offers multiple affordable options, and only hires caregivers who are compassionate, committed, and connected.

While our competition sends warm bodies, we send warm hearts that provide skilled care to those who need it most.

Why Work With Us?

  • No long-term commitment is required. End-of-life patients shouldn’t have that expectation.

  • We are client-centered, not profit-driven. Our clients choose the care plan and caregiver that’s right for them.

  • Our caregivers are independent professionals with experience and a personal interest in hospice care. We require glowing recommendations, background checks, professional references, and liability insurance.

  • It can take as long as a week for the big agencies to start services with a client. Our onboarding process is much faster and we can begin as soon as there’s a need (even immediate).

  • We offer consultations with a registered nurse and a senior transitions guide, a la carte, for assessment of medical complexity and professional case management, along with other unique services.
